Here in Wales we finished 2017 with a youth meeting with our church pastor Peter Kong; he had asked that we do more community service for our monthly youth events. Written by Elliot Yamamoto
Fast forward to today, March 31st, Easter weekend, and we were out litter picking! Nadia, who is our youth leader, had organised for us to go litter picking along a scenic route which was literally littered with bottles, crisp packets and beer cans.
Unfortunately, we only managed to clear some of the path as we had limited bags and space in the car to appropriately dump the rubbish.
However, I feel that we were able to be a good example to the cars and pedestrians that passed us as we were litter picking on a wet and cold Welsh day. Even if our contribution was small, I sincerely believe that lots of small good deeds and devotions can lead to something greater in the future.
After we had finished, one of the local residents, who shows chickens and ducks eggs, gave us a letter and seven boxes of eggs as a thank you for our hard work and dedication. It was a surprise but touching gift as it goes to show that actions do speak louder than words.
Again, thank you to everyone who came including Yukie who came to support!
